Karon Beach is one of the longest beaches in phu*ket. This beach offers a 5-kilometer stretch of white sand, calm crystal clear waters and a good mix of nearby hotels, restaurants, and shops. What makes Karon Beach one of the best places for beach volleyball in Thailand, is that it is the only place in phu*ket where you will find beach volleyball nets set up every day for public use.

Aside from playing beach volleyball, there are plenty of activities and things to do in Karon such as parasailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. There are a number of stalls which rent out all the water sports gear you will need. You will also find rental chairs and umbrellas, drinks and massage stalls along the beach. And although there aren’t any public toilets along the beach, many restaurants across the road will let you use their facilities.

Beach Volleyball in Karon is popular when the sun begins to set. The Beach Volleyball Club Karon plays at the beach every day from 4 pm to sunset. phu*ket Beach Volleyball Club

Another beach volleyball club you can find at Karon Beach is the phu*ket Beach Volleyball Club. The club was created to promote and support the beach volleyball culture in phu*ket. They set up the net every day from 4 pm to 6:30 pm and all level players are welcome to join. The club is located opposite the Movenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach. They run beach volleyball camps to cater for schools, beginners, intermediate and professional players. The club caters equally to locals, expats, tourists, and traveling professionals. phu*ket Beach Open Beach Volleyball Tournament

The phu*ket Beach Volleyball Club alsorun regular competitive and social tournaments like the phu*ket Beach Open Volleyball Tournament. The tournament is aimed at being a fun but challenging event at Karon Beach. To participate, you must pay an entry fee of ฿1000 per men’s team and ฿500 per women’s team. These fees will cover for the shirt, prize money, and medal. The tournament attracts teams from Thailand, Finland, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, France, Kazakhstan, Denmark, and the USA.

The Founder

Yupa phu*krongploy founded the phu*ket Beach Volleyball Club after she retired in 2015. The undisputed queen of beach volleyball in Thailand has been a full-time volleyball player for 20 years. She spent 12 years as a member of the Thailand National Beach Volleyball team. Today, she is continuing her drive to put phu*ket on the map for quality beach volleyball competitions. She also does coaching for tourists and a few professional players who come to phu*ket for training.

Koh Samui

Koh Samui, which lies on the Gulf of Thailand, is the country’s second-largest island after phu*ket. The island is known for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves, mountainous rain-forest, and luxury resort spas.It is also the home of Koh Samui Beach Volleyball Club and serves as the perfect destination for the crowd-pleasing annual Samui Open Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Koh Samui Beach Volleyball Club

The Koh Samui Beach Volleyball Clubis a non-profit group founded by a resident and avid player, Cord Biggs. The club conducts daily open play at Beach Bar Samui, between Impiana and Sheraton Hotel, on Chaweng Noi beach from 4 pm to 6 pm. They play mostly in doubles and everyone is welcome to join. In addition to beach volleyball games, the beautifully situated Beach Bar Samui also offers a great setting and ambiance to all volleyball enthusiasts. They also provide great tasty bar snacks.

Samui Open Beach Volleyball Tournament

Organized by Cord Biggs of the Koh Samui Beach Volleyball Club, Samui Open Beach Volleyball Tournament is an annual fun event at The Beach Bar in Chaweng Noi aimed to promote Beach Volleyball on the island of Koh Samui and in the rest of Southeast Asia. The tournament also reflects the global interest in Beach Volleyball as one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. The tournament is an exciting and fun event for the island and it attracts not only local players but also players from Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. All proceeds of this non-profit tournament go to the tournament winners and the promotion of Beach Volleyball on the island and the region.
